Multitasking – Why It Doesn’t Work

A new study confirms what many office workers have long suspected: multitasking doesn’t work.  A paper in the journal Human Factors notes that the average office worker is interrupted 6 times every hour and that these interruptions deeply impact the quality of work produced.

“People don’t realize how disruptive interruptions can be,” said Cyrus Foroughi, one of the co-authors of the study told Science Daily. “There is value in determining whether interruptions affect the quality of the tasks that many people perform regularly, such as writing essays or reports.”

Experts estimate that switching between tasks can cause a 40% loss in productivity. It can also cause you to introduce errors into whatever you’re working on, especially if one or more of your activities involves a lot of critical thinking.

Join us as we explore ways to prioritize, focus and be more productive!

In addition, Anna Dinsmore from Oklahoma Greenovation Employer/Partner Grant will be there to discuss their employer partner on the job training during the pre-session.
Regent Bank will be sponsoring lunch for the event this month!!!
