Pioneer days Set to return to downtown nowata
After nearly a twenty-year hiatus, Nowata County’s famous past time celebration, Pioneer Days, is set to return for the second straight year in downtown Nowata, Oklahoma. The event will take place on Saturday, May 2nd from 9am-3pm. With the event’s Grand Parade starting at 2pm.
Last year’s daylong celebration, brought dozens of vendors and hundreds of visitors to downtown Nowata. Helping to reignite the county’s acclaimed celebration in honor of its heritage and those who helped build the county and its many close knit communities.
The event was highlighted by mattress races on Main Street, musical performances, and an array of food vendors. While the event was sent off in style with the Grand Parade in the afternoon, which saw the event’s attendance reach its peak. As Main Street in downtown Nowata, Cherokee Avenue (U.S. Highway 60), was filled on both sides as young and old alike, awaited the parade’s participants to pass them.
Please join us this year, 2015, as we again, meet in downtown Nowata to celebrate our county and its history. This is a free event and is family friendly.
Expect to see the following at Pioneer Days in downtown Nowata:
Pioneer Day Princess Competition (Girls 6-12 years old)
Pioneer Day Queen Competition (Ladies 13-19 years old)
